Method
Cake:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray two 9-inch cake pans with non stick spray and place parchment paper on the bottom, set aside.
- In a large bowl whisk together your flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate mixing bowl beat together your oil, eggs, milk, orange juice, and orange extract until combined. Add in your dry ingredients and stir to combine, do not overmix. Pour in hot water and mix together.
- Pour your cake batter evenly in to each of your prepared pans. Bake for 25-27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in to the middle comes out almost clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
Frosting:
- Whisk together your butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add in your cocoa powder and continue to mix until combined.
- One cup at a time, add in your powdered sugar and continue to whisk until smooth.
- Mix in your orange juice and orange extract.
- Frost your cake, slice and enjoy!
