- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour OR 1:1 gluten free flour with xanthan gum
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda

- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk of choice preferably higher fat content
- 1 tsp orange extract
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice

- 1 cup butter room temperature
- 1/2 cup cream cheese room temperature
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp orange juice
- 1/4 tsp orange extract

Cake:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray two 9-inch cake pans with non stick spray and place parchment paper on the bottom, set aside.
- In a large bowl whisk together your flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate mixing bowl beat together your oil, eggs, milk, orange juice, and orange extract until combined. Add in your dry ingredients and stir to combine, do not overmix. Pour in hot water and mix together.
- Pour your cake batter evenly in to each of your prepared pans. Bake for 25-27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in to the middle comes out almost clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
