Delicious and easy to make Christmas puppy chow made with gluten free cereal coated with milk chocolate, butterscotch, and powdered sugar.
I seriously can’t stop eating this Christmas Puppy Chow! This recipe makes for a perfect Christmas movie snack, you can share or (my personal favorite) eat it all to yourself. Not to mention that this recipe comes together in 10 minutes – it doesn’t get any better than that! Christmas Puppy Chow is also kid friendly, not only to eat, but to make. There is nothing better than getting the family together in the kitchen for some fun holiday baking. I love serving this with holiday M&Ms for that extra festive feel and colors! You can even add in some holiday sprinkles.
Don’t let the name fool you though, this recipe is NOT made for dogs, it is made for humans! This recipe goes by a couple names like puppy chow, muddy buddies, trash, etc. Whatever you call it, it is completely delicious!

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED TO MAKE PUPPY CHOW
- 8 cups gluten free chex cereal
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups holiday M&Ms
Instructions To Make Christmas Puppy Chow
- Place your gluten free chex cereal in a large bowl, set aside.
- Place 2 cups of your powdered sugar into a large ziplock bag.
- In a pot melt your butter, milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, and vanilla extract on low heat until melted and smooth, stirring the entire time.
- Pour your melted mixture over the chex cereal and mix well until all the cereal is evenly coated. Pour this mixture into the bag of powdered sugar, close the bag, and shake until all the cereal is coated.
- Carefully spread your coated cereal over wax paper to cool.
- Once cooled, place in a large bowl and mix in 1 cup of Holiday M&Ms. Enjoy!
