Who said you can’t enjoy a classic chewy candy without all the sugar? Cue these amazing Sugar Free Tootsie Rolls! Easy to make, easy and delicious to eat.
That’s right, folks! You can enjoy this upcoming Halloween season while eating your favorite candies, and they can still be keto! I mean, come on! How could it get better than that? Tootsie rolls have always been one of my favorite candies and of course I knew I had to get to work in the kitchen to make a sugar free version that would be just as good as the original version. And let me tell you, I actually like this version of tootsie rolls more if you can believe that! I seriously can’t wait to hear what you think.

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp swerve brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar free syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
Instructions To Make Sugar Free Tootsie Rolls
- Place parchment paper into a small loaf pan and set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat on the stove, melt your butter. Whisk your swerve into the butter until combined.
- Add your sugar-free syrup into your saucepan, and whisk to combine.
- Let the mixture cook over medium heat without stirring for about 10-15 minutes, and then check it for consistency. You should have frothy bubbles.
- Once it has become frothy with bubbles and is thickened, cook for an additional minute before removing it from the heat.
- Whisk in the vanilla extract and cocoa powder.
- Pour mixture into your prepared loaf pan. Freeze until set, 4 hours to overnight.
- Remove the solid candy from your loaf pan, and slice into the size and shape of a tootsie roll.
- Place into a small piece of parchment paper for wrapping or leave it as is. Enjoy!

Why do you say to cook the syrup mixture for 10 minutes? I think mine was done after 5 minutes, but I cooked for 10 minutes and burned it very badly.
Sorry it did not work out for you, unfortunately I can only test recipes with my own stove and cooking pans. Every pan and stove is not created equal, so it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on your baked goods.
